for the time being is a momentary state of now – a contemplation and surveyance on our experience of time. Every being marks the endless potential of existence. A trickle of water changes the course of a thousand rivers. Every clock tick – a possibility.
stray cat slot machine is a collective that my friends and I started, driven by a shared passion for creativity and a desire to bring unique, offbeat ideas to life despite the lack of formal art training. As part of this collaborative endeavour, I took on the responsibility of crafting the key visual, designing the poster, and creating the event booklet that would embody the essence of our exhibition's vision.

The blooming of a flower. A flicker of the flame. It is often pondered how life passes in a blink of the eye. Exploring the paradoxical nature of time, timescales by Claire and Kun is a reflective conversation on perceptual and physical time. Piecing together fragmentary moments, viewers are transported through frames of life – in which time may appear stretched or fast-forwarded; illusory or real, when recalled.

A dialogue unfolds, between the viewer and the film– inviting contemplation on the malleable nature of time in moments past, while experiencing them in the present. In here, time passes and time stops, and in the end, we spectate.

12 layers, 12 years of friendship. qi and jing is a collaborative mixed media painting on canvas by Jean and Claire. Transfusing vivid colours with distinct gestural strokes across the canvas, the duo took turns to compound layers of paint, cutouts and symbols by their own volition – forming a narrative mass of resembled memories and perspectives. qi and jing reflects the often complex and transformative nature of relationships. The assemblage of spirited hues, concerted strokes, and figurative imagery alludes to the destruction and rebirth of identities for those who form a relationship together – how we converge, estrange, intersect, reconcile and … learn to love one another throughout time.

standing still in time i think reimagines pockets of time in the mundane as liminal spaces – where we venture into deep introspection or reverie. Here, the mundane is defined within our public commute – where real and imaginary worlds collide in an assemblage of cosmic elements, surreal imagery, and quotidian photography. The work draws inspiration from Claire's public commute experience; as a “pensive void” in her frenetic schedule – where time is seemingly stilled amidst a hurried world. An interplay of varied mediums reveal the dichotomous nature of time – both real and imagined; physical and psychological; ubiquitous and perceived.
